NLS Frequently Asked Questions:

When should I have completed my contract?

Contracts need to be completed by the beginning of March 2006. Technically, it would be 90 days from Nov 6. However if you do not meet that deadline you can continue to work on your contract until you complete it - the goal is to use the skills learned at NLS to complete the contract.  Completing the contract is more important than the deadline.

Where do I mail the contract?

Kennesaw, GA 30160

I lost my contract, how do I get another one?

Please contact Mac McLean and he will set you up with a new one.  The important thing is to do this as soon as you realize you have misplaced it.  Do not let this be a show stopper.

School/Life/Girlfriend/World Events/Work/Scouting/Lodge have collided and some of my commitments are no longer possible to complete. What do I do?

We all know that people have many other items that can conflict with their scouting lives just remember this is a contract with yourself. Think about what you have committed yourself to and evaluate whether it might have been too lofty of a goal. Also decide if there are other ways in which you can apply the leadership skills you learned at the NLS. If you really want to continue and complete the NLS personal commitment / contract then set new goals. The important part is to show how you have learned from your NLS experience.

When you meet with your Lodge Chief / Adviser to go over your commitment / contract just explain how you were unable to meet your previous goals but how you have been able to apply what you have learned. Everyone should be able to complete this commitment / contract.

I finished my contact, what has to be done next?

Have a discussion with your Lodge Chief or Lodge Adviser about how you completed the contract. Remember to fill out the "what actually happened" section of the contract and describe what you learned. Have them sign the contract and mail it to the Region Office. Make sure your name and address are printed clearly on the contract.
